Meet Red Hopscotch

Introducing Red…

Introducing the newest member of the Todd household: Red Hopscotch.

This is the same rabbit who, on three separate occassions, escaped from a neighbor’s house and was often spotted nibbling greens in our back yard (the rabbit formerly known as Clover, also formerly known as Pancakes). A few days after The Missus returned him for the third time, he showed up in our backyard. Again. But this time he was sporting a wobbly hind leg and a back injury.

Did I mention that we’re the neighborhood animal rescue? What do you think happened next?

Enjoying the paper with The Missus…

We talked to the neighbors; they’re fed up with him. So we’ve got a new rabbit. An escape artist rabbit, no less.Yet another expensive “free” pet. But we like him. The cats don’t mind him. The dog wants desperately to eat him. It’s a party, 24:7.

As for the name, he’ll have bunch of ‘em, just like all the four-legged types (and husbands) do around here. We were teetering between “Bastardo” and “Red,” and finally went with the latter, as it’s easier to bark at the little devil when he’s trying to squeeze under an expensive piece of furniture. The former was going to provide a challenge when introducing him to the neighborhood kids, anway.

“Hey kids. This is our rabbit, Bastardo.”

Well I like it. But it lacks a certain air of parent-approvedness.

Welcome to the Phun Phactory, Mr. Red.

Editors note: As it turns out, the keen eye of a veterinarian made it known that “Red” is actually a girl. Hence the new name. So… meet Hopscotch.
